Pipi Piyum (2006)

Tharaka's debut acting project was "Pipi Piyum". Pipi Piyum is a Popular Sri Lankan Teledrama that aired on Swarnavahini TV in 2006 on Sunday's at 9:00 p.m. Written by Novelist Sumitra Rahubaddha & Directed by Premakumara Jayawardena. "Pipi Piyum" follows the story of Nikini Malwenna (played by Tharaka Wasalamudaliarachchi) an innocent girl coming from a poor background. She is pretty but there is a deformity in her legs. Though she has completed her higher education she is employed as an office assistant. Saroj Virithamulla (played by Saranga Disasekara) a young executive in her office gets attracted to her. And it follows the story of Nikini. The teledrama contained 31 total episodes & it stars Tharaka Wasalamudaliarachchi, Saranga Disasekara, Bimal Jayakody, Duleeka Marapana, Suminda Sirisena, Giriraj Kaushalya, Kusum Renu, Chamila Peiris, Samanthi Ganegoda, Gamini Jayalath, Gayan Lakmal, Samadhi Laksiri, Rukmal Nirosh, Nalini Piyasiri Jayalath, Namel Weeramuni and Malani Weeramuni. "Pipi Piyum's" theme song "Ranpata Thavarala" was Sung by Uresha Ravihari, Composed by Prof. Kolitha Bhanu Dissanayake & Lyrics by Sumitra Rahubaddha.

Udu Viyan (2007)

After "Pipi Piyum" tharaka's next acting project would be "Udu Viyan" written and directed by Janaka Siriwardana. And it aired on Swarnavahini TV on Tuesdays at 9 P.M. The story follows Novelist Dileepa Wijewardana (played by Bimal Jayakody) and his wife Ishadi (played by Tharaka Wasalamudaliarachchi) are distressed, as they have no children though married for more than a decade. But their story takes the biggest twist with the entry of Dulani who first meets the couple at a remote village where Dileepa chooses to write his newest novel. Even Dulani is unaware that she as already pregnant when she met Dileepa for the first time, but for Dileepa it was a dream come true. Though this relationship shattered Ishadi’s hopes, she has no option but face the situation silently. It stars Bimal Jayakody, Tharaka Wasalamudaliarachchi, Ayesha Disanayake, Jayalath Manoratne, Manjula Thilini, Avanthi Aponsu, Dayaweda Edirisinghe, Susantha Chandramali, Srimal Wedisinghe, Deepani Silva and Berty Susari.
